CARSON, Calif. (AP) – Morning commuters to a Southern California street were greeted Wednesday by a huge structure that wasn’t there the evening before.

In a matter of hours overnight, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. raised a giant inflatable hangar that’ll be the permanent residence of one of the business’s new airshipsthat replaced its original blimps.

The construction reputation nine tales and extending the length of a soccer field went up together Interstate 405 south of Los Angeles in suburban Carson.

It will home Wingfoot Two, which began flying college football matches in Los Angeles in October. The business claims its new airships are easier to move than the first ones.

Goodyear reported the hangar, fabricated by United Kingdom-based Lindstrand Technologies and assembled with ultralight high-quality material, will be the largest structure of its type in North America. Twenty fans inflated the hangar’s atmosphere cells and also will keep pressure.

Wingfoot Two, which is a dirigible as opposed to a blimp, has been scheduled to depart its temporary residence in Long Beach Airport and arrive in Carson on Friday.

Goodyear has operated the foundation in Carson since 1968 and plans to mark its 50th anniversary next year.
